Borussia Mönchengladbach Jersey 1972/73 | Away

The Jersey of Borusia Mönchengladbach of the Campaign 1972/73 represents an excellent year for the club in Nord-Rhine Westphalia. After winning the Round of 16 of the cup-winners cup against their local Rival 1.FC Köln with a remarkable 5:0 win at home, they knocked the next national opponent,1.FC Kaiserslautern, out of the competition, again with a glorious win at home (7:1). BMG went into the finals, beating Liverpool 2:0 at home, but loosing at Anfield with 3:0, therefore missing the win of the European Cup.

The biggest highlight of the season was without a doubt the final of the DFB-Cup against the 1.FC Köln on the 23. June 1973. Due to bad form Coach Hennes Weisweiller placed superstar Günter Netzer on the bench. “That is very brave of you” was the reaction of Netzer. After Netzer kindly refused to be subbed in during the regular time, he decided that, at the beginning of extra time, standing 1:1, his qualities were required. He had a quick chat with one of his teammates, Christian Kulik and subbed himself in. He just addressed to his coach, while passing him:”I am playing now”. With his second ball contact Netzer decided, after a double pass with Rainer Bonhof, the game. Because of his transfer to Real Madrid in the summer of 1973, this was the last appearance of the World Cup Champion for Gladbach.

The Jersey is made out of 100% Polyester and is manufactured in Europe.

For all football fans who love to be reminded of the legendary moments in German football.
