Original Vancouver Whitecaps retro shirt, Soccer Bowl champions! The Vancouver Whitecaps were a professional soccer team, that ran from 1974-1984, having one of the longest NASL runs. The biggest success was achieved in 1979, when they defeated the New York Cosmos, led by Bob Lenarducci, Giorgio Chinaglia & Franz Beckenbauer. To then go on and win the Soccer Bowl on a 2-1 Win against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Despite not having star players that individually made the difference, the Vancouver Whitecaps had a strong team, and a very loyal fan base, with a stadium capacity of over 60,000 people.
