Liverpool Retro Shirt 1988/89

Memories to the English football before the creation of the Premier league: The Liverpool FC was by far the record title holder, with 18 championships the club won before the foundation of the Premier League in 1992.

After a weak first half of the campaign the club finished at the 7th spot.  In contrast to that the club was able to live up to its potential in a spectacular finish where the fans saw their team unbeaten between the 20th and 37th matchday by only 3 draws. In the last game of the Campaign Arsenal beat Liverpool at Anfield with 2:0. Both teams had the same amount of points and the same goal difference. The second goal of Arsenal in extra time made them claim the title, because of the higher number of goals scored. Liverpool won the FA Cup for a second time in a row after 1988, beating their local rivals Everton FC with 3:2.

Up front there were the two icons of the club: Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush. Two of the biggest Legends in clubs history. Kenny Dalglish, who played unbelievable 23 years for the club, was caped in 355 games and scored 118 goals for the club and the 10 years younger Ian Rush, who played the majority of his over 600 career games at Anfield and scored remarkable 229 goals.

But the sport was overshadowed by the disaster of Hillsborough. On the 15th of April 1989 at the game Nottingham Forest versus Liverpool FC in the semifinal of the FA Cup, 96 people lost their lives due to a mass panic. It is the biggest tragedy in the history of British sports.

In the design of the classic red home jersey the club emblem is implemented multiple times. This Retro Shirt is completely manufactured in Europe and is made out of polyester.

For all supporters of the reds and the beautiful football but also in memory of the Hillsborough tragedy victims in 1989!
